Pedestrian Killed in Fresno Hit-and-Run Accident on Friant Drive
FRESNO, CA (February 23, 2019) – A man died in a hit-and-run pedestrian crash near Copper River Country Club in north Fresno on Thursday, February 21.
According to Fresno police Lt. Bill Dooley, just before 6:30 p.m. officers received calls of a pedestrian struck by a vehicle. Officers responded to the scene and discovered the body of the victim on the road.
Dooley said that the suspect vehicle was moving north on Friant Drive at Copper River Drive when it hit the pedestrian, who police believe was walking in the crosswalk.
About four hours later, Fresno police stated that they had found the suspect vehicle in Auberry, near Table Mountain and detained the driver. The person was questioned and evaluated for DUI but had not been arrested for the crime yet, police stated.
Officers shut down Northbound Friant at Copper River Drive as they conducted their investigation.
