CHP Investigates Fatal Crash on State Route 54 in Chula Vista
Chula Vista, CA (April 7, 2022) – Thursday evening, a man died in a crash on State Route 54.
The fatal crash in Chula Vista happened at around 5:50 p.m. on April 7.
CHP said the driver of a Toyota Scion was parked on the side of State Route 54 east of Highland Avenue after the car became disabled.
While in the process of changing his tire, a Mazda sedan hit the man.
EMS took the victim to a hospital where he later died.
The Mazda driver remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators.
Police said alcohol and or/drugs are not believed to be a factor in the collision.
The circumstances surrounding the crash are under investigation.
