SAN DIEGO, CA (September 6, 2022) – Sunday morning, a man died in a pickup truck crash on State Route 54 and Briarwood Road.
 
The incident occurred at around 11:40 a.m. on westbound State Route 54, east of Briarwood Road.
 
According to reports, a car broke down on State Route 54 near Bay Terraces neighborhood. Afterward, the driver got out and stood by the hood. Then, a pickup truck rear-ended the vehicle. As a result, the driver died at the scene. At this time, his identity remained undisclosed due to pending family notification.
 
Meanwhile, the authorities do not believe that alcohol or drugs played a role in the crash.
 
Moreover, the pickup driver suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to a hospital.
 
Also, a third vehicle driving behind the pickup veered to avoid the crash. However, it struck the center divider and then the wall along the right shoulder of the freeway. Meanwhile, the driver said he suffered no serious injuries.
