1 Dead in Bakersfield Auto Accident on Ming Avenue near Ashe Road

 
BAKERSFIELD, CA (May 5, 2022) – Tuesday night, a man died in a hit-and-run crash on Ming Avenue near Ashe Road.
 
The incident occurred at 8:45 p.m. in the 6100 block of Ming Avenue near Ashe Road. According to reports, the crash involved a Jeep and an SUV.
 
After the crash, the Jeep driver succumbed to injuries at the scene. Meanwhile, responders took the woman to a nearby hospital with moderate injuries.
 
Meanwhile, the police revealed that the SUV driver ran away from the scene after the crash. They described the driver as a Black man, 6 feet tall with a heavy build.
 
Also, the preliminary investigation revealed that the SUV driver traveled at a high rate of speed before the crash. Then, both vehicles sustained major damage and responders extricated the woman from the Jeep.
 
At this time, the authorities haven’t confirmed whether alcohol or drugs played a role in the crash.
 
The Major Collision Investigations Team of the police department took over the investigation.
