SCOTTS VALLEY, CA (September 9, 2021) – Friday night, a 28-year-old man died in a crash on Highway 17 near Mount Hermon Road.
 
The incident happened when a Santa Cruz resident drove his Toyota Tacoma on northbound Highway 17 near Mount Hermon Road. Then, he attempted to drive past a slower-moving Toyota Camry.
 
Then, the Tacoma hit the Camry’s rear as it tried to overtake. Afterward, the Camry lost control and started spinning out. At the same time, the Tacoma overturned and ejected its driver.
 
As a result, the Tacoma’s driver succumbed to injuries at the scene.
 
Meanwhile, responders transported the Camry’s 22-year-old driver to Santa Clara Valley Medical Center. He received treatment for his minor injuries.
 
At this time, the authorities continue to investigate the crash.
