Man in His 60s Killed in Crash on Avenue J and 17th Street [Lancaster, CA]

1 Dead in Lancaster Two-Vehicle Accident on Avenue J and 17th Street

 
LANCASTER, CA (September 29, 2020) – Friday afternoon, a man in his 60s succumbed to injuries after a crash on Avenue J & and 17th Street.
 
The two-vehicle accident occurred about 5:23 p.m. on Avenue J and 17th Street East intersection.
 
“Preliminary investigation indicates a male adult in a Chevrolet Classic was traveling eastbound on Avenue J in the left turn lane, approaching 17th Street East. A male adult in a Ford Mustang was traveling westbound on Avenue J. As both vehicles entered into the intersection simultaneously, the Chevrolet Classic conducted a left turn… in the direct path of the Ford Mustang,” reports revealed.
 
As a result, the Chevrolet Classic driver suffered fatal injuries. As of this time, Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office is withholding his identity due to pending family notification. However, they revealed that the victim was a black man in his 60s.
 
Meanwhile, the authorities confirmed that two men occupied the Ford Mustang during the incident. However, their condition wasn’t disclosed as of this time.
 
“The cause and fault in the collision [are] still being investigated. Speed may be a factor in the collision. It is unknown at this time if alcohol or drugs played a role,” said the sheriff’s news release.
 
The authorities urge anyone with information about the crash to call traffic investigators at Lancaster Sheriff Station at 661-948-8466.
