Man Dead, Carlos Canizalez Hurt after Stevinson Head-On Accident
STEVINSON, CA (October 8, 2019) – One person died, and another identified as Carlos Canizalez sustained injuries in a head-on crash.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident happened on Highway 165 south of the San Joaquin River on early Monday, October 7.
Carlos Enrique Godoy Canizalez moved south on Highway 165 toward Los Banos in a 2019 Honda Civic. His car crossed into the northbound lane and slammed head-on with a 1995 Honda Civic. The incident happened at around 4:18 a.m., CHP said.
The male driver of the 1995 Honda succumbed to injuries at the scene. His name was not immediately available pending notification of family.
Paramedics airlifted 25-year-old Canizalez, of Keyes, to Doctors Medical Center in Modesto with major injuries.
Both drivers wore their seat belts at the time of the collision. Neither alcohol nor drugs were believed to have contributed to the incident.
