80-Year-Old Man Killed in Car Accident in Murrieta
MURRIETA, CA (December 19, 2018) – On Wednesday afternoon, one person was killed and two others were injured in a car crash on 15 Freeway.
The deceased victim was identified as an 80-year-old man from Temecula, however his name has not been released at this time.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the accident took place around 2:00 PM just south of Murrieta Hot Springs Road. First responders arrived at the scene, after receiving multiple calls about the incident.
As per reports, a 1999 Lincoln Town Car was traveling about 65 MPH when a 2003 Dodge Ram ahead abruptly came to a stop due to traffic. The Town Car driver applied his brakes, lost control, spun out, and rear ended the Ram. As a result, it caused the Town Car to careen into the center divider, while the Ram was pushed onto the shoulder lane.
Paramedics arrived shortly at the scene of the incident and pronounced the Town Car driver dead at the scene.
The driver of the Ram, 61-year-old man and his 58-year-old female passenger, both from Downey, suffered minor injuries. They were transported to the Inland Valley Medical Center for treatment and evaluation.
No further details regarding the accident have been disclosed to the public.
