Male Killed in Car Accident in Benbow
BENBOW, CA (February 10, 2019) – On Sunday night, a man was killed in a car collision on the 101 Freeway near Benbow Drive.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident occurred around 9:00 PM just south of Benbow Drive.
As per reports, the victim was driving a 2006 Chevrolet Trailblazer when he lost control and collided with a tree. No other motorist were involved in the accident.
First responders arrived and pronounced the victim dead at the scene.
The identity of the victim has not yet been released to the public, pending notification of next of kin.
The surrounding area was closed off for a brief time for cleanup and preliminary investigation, but has since reopened. It is unknown if alcohol and drugs were considered to be contributing factors.
There has been no further information released regarding the circumstances leading up to the incident at this time, as the investigation continues.
