Unidentified Man Killed in Grass Valley Car Crash

 
GRASS VALLEY, CA (February 9, 2019) – On Saturday morning, an unidentified man was killed in a car accident on McCourtney Road. The identity of the victim has not yet been released, pending notification of next of kin.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, around 1:05 AM a witness reported a green Toyota Tacoma who apparently crashed. Officers determined that the Tacoma traveled off the road and collided into dense vegetation and an oak tree.
 
Grass Valley Fire Department arrived and pronounced the victim dead at the scene. No other injuries were reported in the incident.
 
Authorities believe a mix of rain and snow may have caused the accident. It is unknown if alcohol and drugs were considered to be contributing factors.
 
The surrounding area was closed off for a brief time for cleanup and preliminary investigation, but has since reopened. There has been no further information released regarding the circumstances leading up to the incident at this time, as the investigation continues.
