1 Dead in Houston Traffic Crash on Highway 288 near Almeda Genoa

HOUSTON, TX (November 17, 2024) – Saturday morning, a man died in a brutal auto accident on Highway 288 near Almeda Genoa.

The incident occurred at around 1:30 a.m. on Highway 288 between Almeda Genoa and Beltway.

A Corvette driver, reportedly speeding, crashed into an Amazon Prime 18-wheeler and a median before the car caught fire, witnesses said. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene, though their identity has not been released. 

The 18-wheeler’s driver, a woman, sustained neck and back injuries but is expected to recover. 

“We have massive amounts of skid marks that it(Corvette) was really cruising down the freeway, so fast that when it came upon the 18-wheeler, it was not able to get around it or stop,” said Lt. Willkens of the Houston Police Department.

Due to the limited information available, the authorities continued to investigate the crash.
