40-year-old Man Dies in San Jose Crash on Guadalupe River Trail
SAN JOSE, CA (May 31, 2020) – Last Wednesday, a 40-year-old man succumbed to injuries after a bicycle accident on the Guadalupe River Trail.
According to the police reports, on May 15 after 1:30 p.m., the man was riding south on Guadalupe River Trail. He was bicycling near the 300 block of West Julian Street, officer Gina Tepoorten said. Upon approaching an underpass, he crashed with a 24-year-old male cyclist heading north on the same trail.
Responders treated the younger bicyclist at the scene for his injuries. Meanwhile, they transported the 40-year-old man to a local hospital.
Unfortunately, after two weeks, he died on Wednesday. The county coroner’s office didn’t disclose his identity due to pending family notification.

However, Tepoorten revealed that both riders didn’t wear a helmet.
This fatal incident was the 20th deadly crash in the city.
