Fatal Hit-And-Run Crash on G Street in Merced

 
Merced, CA (September 21, 2020) – Sunday night, a 45-year-old man died in a hit-and-run crash in G Street’s 2200 block.
 
The incident happened at around 9:21 p.m. on September 20.
 
According to reports, the pedestrian was wearing black clothing and attempted to cross the street in an area that is not well lit. He was struck by a 1996 Honda Civic traveling southbound in the number two lane driven by Eusebio Maya-Luna, 19, of Dos Palos.
 
Maya-Luna remained at the scene and cooperated with the officials.
 
Moreover, the pedestrian struck by a second vehicle described as a dark SUV traveling southbound on G Street.
However, that driver fled the scene and was last seen traveling westbound on West 22nd Street.
 
The victim was transported to Mercy Medical Center Merced but pronounced dead hours later.
 
Police say neither alcohol nor drugs appear to be a factor in the collision. They ask anyone with information regarding the crash to contact the Merced Police Department Traffic Division at 209-388-7719.
