Man Pronounced Dead in Auto Accident on I-15 Freeway near Barstow
Barstow, CA (April 17, 2020)– Thursday night, a 43-year-old man, resident of Las Vegas, died in an auto crash on I-15 Freeway.
The CHP received crash reports at around 9:53 p.m., on April 16. Dispatched Officers and EMS arrived on the I-15 Freeway and located a 2002 Hyundai Elantra and a 2014 Chevy Camaro on the scene.
Reportedly, the victim was driving a 2002 Hyundai Elantra, southbound on the 15 freeway when his vehicle became disabled in the center median.
There, the driver exited the vehicle, and for unknown reasons, he attempted to cross the southbound lanes of I-15 and was struck by the approaching Chevy Camaro in the #1 lane.
Due to the extent of his injuries, responding medical personnel pronounced him dead on the scene at approximately 10:10 p.m.
Meanwhile, the 23-year-old female from Porterville, driving the Chevy, remained at the scene and called 911.
CHP officials confirmed that alcohol or drugs were not factors in this collision.
Additionally, CHP continues the investigation and asking anyone with helpful information regarding the crash to call 760-255-5900.
