Austin David Arrested in Fatal DUI Accident on Stony Point Road in Petaluma
Petaluma, CA (April 18, 2021) – Saturday night, a 52-year-old man died after being ejected from his car in a two-vehicle DUI crash on Stony Point Road.
Subsequently, police arrested 21-year-old Austin Matsler-David on suspicion of driving under the influence (DUI) and vehicular manslaughter.
The Petaluma fatal crash took place on April 17.
According to reports, the pickup headed north on Stony Point Road when struck by Matsler-David’s Honda, traveling in the opposite direction.
The Honda appears to have crossed into ongoing traffic, police said. After hitting the Ford, the Honda went over a concrete barrier and into the creek.
The pickup rolled several times, ejecting the driver. Emergency crews declared the victim dead on the scene.
Meanwhile, David was taken to Memorial Hospital and then booked into the Sonoma County Adult Detention Facility.
Police did not release the identity of the victim yet, pending notification of his family.
