Pedestrian Fatally Struck by Passing Vehicle while Walking along 104th Avenue South East in Kent
KENT, WA (December 17, 2019) – A man was killed after being struck by a vehicle on 104th Avenue Tuesday night in Kent, authorities said.
The fatal crash happened around 6:20 p.m., in the 23500 block of 104th Ave South East. Dispatchers arrived to the area just north of 236th Street.
According to police, a male pedestrian was walking along the roadway when a passing car struck him. The victim suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene. The identity of the man was not immediately available.
The driver of the vehicle stopped and cooperated with authorities. The surrounding area was closed off for a brief time while crews worked on preliminary investigations.
Preliminary evidence shows the driver was following the speed limit and did not appear to be under the influence of any alcohol or drug.
The area has an intersection but no crosswalk and the road was dark in that area, officials said. An investigation is ongoing.
