Pedestrian Fatally Struck by Metrolink Train on Green River Road in Corona
CORONA, CA (December 7, 2019) – A man was killed after being struck by a train Saturday morning in Corona, authorities said.
The incident happened around 7:40 a.m. north of a mobile home community at 4901 Green River Road.
According to police, a male pedestrian was walking west on tracks when a BNSF freight train struck him. Before colliding with the man, the train’s conductor tried several times to alert the victim with the train’s horn. The victim was outside any pedestrian crossing areas.
The victim was pronounced dead at the scene. The Riverside County Coroner’s Office did not release the man’s identity pending next of kin notification.
The incident delayed commuters on Metrolink trains across Orange, Los Angeles and Riverside counties for more than an hour.
Buses were provided for passengers on board trains that were stopped on the track. Metrolink also provided rideshare vouchers and announced fare reimbursements.
