Late Evening Pedestrian Crash on 680 Freeway in San Jose Ends in Fatality
SAN JOSE, CA (September 7, 2019) – A man died late Saturday evening following a pedestrian crash on 680 Freeway.
The fatal incident happened around 11:30 p.m. along the northbound lanes of the freeway, just south of McKee Road off-ramp.
CHP officials said a gray 2014 Lexus struck a male pedestrian that was walking on the freeway. The impact sent the man on the ground.
Responding paramedics pronounced the victim dead at the scene. His identity was not immediately available.
The driver of the car stayed at the scene and cooperated with officers.
Officials partially closed the freeway for nearly four hours while they investigated the incident.
Drugs or alcohol do not appear to be a factor in the crash at the early stage of the investigation, and no arrests were made at this time.
We hope the family and friends of the victim are surrounded by steadfast and comforting support as they grieve for the loss of their loved one.
