Pedestrian Fatally Struck by Passing Vehicle on Highway 237 in San Jose
SAN JOSE, CA (July 28, 2019) – A man was killed after being struck by a car early Sunday morning in San Jose, authorities said.
The fatal incident happened around 3:40 a.m., on Highway 237 at Zanker Road off-ramp.
A vehicle carrying four men was traveling east on the highway when it pulled over to the shoulder.
There, two of the men got out of the car. One of them, for an unknown reason, moved into the traffic lanes before he was eventually struck by a passing vehicle.
The man was immediately rushed to a hospital, where he was later pronounced dead around 4:15 a.m. However, his name has not yet been released pending family notification.
Furthermore, several lanes of Highway 237 were closed for about two hours while police documented and cleared the scene. However, the area has since reopened.
It was not immediately known why the car pulled over or why the man who was struck ended up in the traffic lanes. In addition, further investigation is still currently underway.
