Man Killed after Hit by Car at El Camino Real and Helen Avenue [SUNNYVALE, CA]

Pedestrian Fatally Struck by Car on El Camino Real in Sunnyvale

 
SUNNYVALE, CA (January 7, 2020) – A man was killed after he was struck by a car Tuesday morning on El Camino Real, in Sunnyvale.
 
The fatal incident happened around 6:15 a.m., on El Camino Real and Helen Avenue. First responders arrived to the area shortly after.
 
Police said a male was walking in the intersection when the car struck him for unknown reasons. However, his identity has not yet been released.
 
Arriving units transported the pedestrian to a nearby hospital where he was later pronounced dead as a result of the impact.
 
Moreover, the driver of the car cooperated with investigators and was not suspected of being under the influence of alcohol or drugs at the time. The events leading up to the collision are currently unclear.
 
The surrounding area on El Camino Real was closed off for a brief time while crews worked on preliminary duties. However, authorities ask anyone who witnessed the crash to call Sunnyvale investigators at 408-730-7109.
