STOCKTON, CA (February 14, 2020) – A man was killed and five others were hospitalized following a DUI crash Friday morning in San Joaquin County.
The crash happened just before 8:00 a.m. on Highway 4 at South Tracy Boulevard.
CHP officials said a semi truck crossed the double-yellow lines on Highway 4 and slammed head-on into a 2010 Dodge Journey heading the opposite direction. The semi then kept on going and sideswiped a 2015 Chrysler Town and County minivan.
The impact of the crash killed the 35-year-old male driver of the Dodge. An 11-year-old boy in the SUV suffered major injuries and was airlifted to a hospital. The driver and the child are from Stockton.
Meanwhile, paramedics transported the woman and three juvenile passengers in the minivan to a hospital with minor injuries.
The driver of the semi suffered moderate injuries and was arrested on suspicion of DUI.
Caltrans closed Highway 4 in both directions while the investigation was being conducted.
