62-Year-Old Man Injured in Bayside Walk Scooter Crash
MISSION BEACH, CA (March 31, 2019) – Sunday afternoon, a 62-year-old man was critically injured in a scooter accident on Bayside Walk
Officer Dino Delimitros with the San Diego Police Department reported the incident occurred around 12:30 PM on the 3800 block of Bayside Walk near Mission Bay Sportscenter.
Based on surveillance footage the man lost control of his scooter and fell head first onto the sidewalk. Several people rushed to help him before medics arrived.
The victim was transported to a nearby hospital for further medical evaluation. As a result, the man sustained a cervical neck fracture and facial abrasions. However his current medical condition has not been released.
Authorities did not confirm if he was wearing a helmet. Per reports, there has been an increase of scooter accidents since dockless scooters were allowed to operate in the city February 2018.
There has been no further information released about the incident.
