Driver Pinned Between Two Semi after Crash on Highway 58 in Bakersfield

Bakersfield, CA (July 9, 2021) – Thursday evening, a man sustained severe injuries after a possibly distracted semi-truck driver rear-ended his vehicle on Highway 58.

Moreover, the crash in Bakersfield happened at 5:50 p.m. on July 8, near the Chester Avenue offramp.

According to CHP’s Traffic Incident Information Page, the collision involved two semi-trucks and a white Nissan — pinned underneath one of the semi-trucks.

Emergency personnel needed a crane to lift the trailer and pull the driver out from underneath.

The driver reportedly suffered severe injuries and was then taken to a nearby hospital.

Meanwhile, investigators are looking into whether or not the driver of the yellow semi-truck was using a cellphone at the time of the crash.
