Man Hurt after San Diego Pedestrian Accident on Rosecrans Street and Laning Road
SAN DIEGO, CA (October 3, 2019) — A man sustained severe head injuries after a pedestrian crash on Rosecrans Street on Tuesday, October 1.
San Diego police Officer John Buttle stated that the accident occurred just before 5:30 p.m. at the intersection of Rosecrans Street and Laning Road.
A 55-year-old man drove a 2019 Ford Fusion on Laning Road in the right turn lane to Rosecrans Street. At the same time, a 60-year-old man tried to cross Rosecrans Street eastbound in the crosswalk.
The driver then made a right turn onto Rosecrans Street and hit the pedestrian as he walked in the crosswalk, Buttle said. He added that the driver had a green turn light and the pedestrian had a cross signal.
Paramedics brought the 60-year-old victim to a hospital for treatment of life-threatening head trauma. An update on his condition was not immediately released.
The driver was not intoxicated, SDPD said. It was not clear if he was suspected to be at fault for the incident. SDPD’s Traffic Division is still investigating.
