45-Year-Old Man Vallejo Transient Hospitalized after Struck by Car at Rio Del Mar
AMERICAN CANYON, CA (May 25, 2018) – On Friday evening, a pedestrian collision on Highway 29 at Rio Del Mar, sent a Vallejo transient to a hospital with critical injuries.
According to reports, the American Canyon Police and the Fire District officials arrived at the scene around 8:50 PM. They found the 45-year-old victim suffering from severe injuries after he was hit by a Subaru Forrester.
A preliminary investigation determined that the Forrester was heading northbound on Highway 29 when the driver struck the transient, who was trying to cross against the traffic light.
Life-saving efforts, such as the application of a tourniquet to the victim’s critically injured leg, were done by the officers before sending the man to Queen of the Valley Medical Center. Current updates stated that the man was in the hospital’s Intensive Care Unit (ICU), where his condition was listed as critical, but stable.
The driver of the Subaru Forrester, a 70-year-old Napa resident, stayed at the scene and cooperated with the investigation. Impairment was ruled out as a factor in the collision, and the driver was released after an interview.
