1 Hurt in San Diego Pedestrian Accident on Marian Way
SAN DIEGO, CA (November 20, 2019) – A 25-year-old man sustained injuries in a pedestrian accident on Marian Way on November 19.
The incident involving a Smart Car occurred about 7:00 p.m. on Marian Way and Linda Vista Road. According to San Diego Police Officer John Buttle, the accident caused the pedestrian to sustained a spinal fracture.
Buttle revealed that a 20-year-old male driver of a 2009 Smart Car stopped at a red light on Marian Way at Linda Vista Road. When the go sign appeared, he turned right onto Linda Vista Road as the crossing light also switched on. The pedestrian started walking south on Linda Vista Road inside the crosswalk and got hit by the Smart Car. The driver also said that he didn’t notice the pedestrian.
Responders took the victim to a hospital for treatment of a “fracture to the C6 vertebrae,” Buttle confirmed.
Meanwhile, the driver stayed at the scene and authorities ruled out intoxication as a factor in the collision.
