Pedestrian Hospitalized after Being Struck by Car in Carlsbad
CARLSBAD, CA (May 6, 2019) – On Monday night, a man was injured in a pedestrian car accident on Carlsbad Boulevard. According to Carlsbad Police Department, the incident occurred around 9:00 PM near Cannon Park.
As per reports, the male was walking outside a crosswalk when he was struck by an 18-year-old woman in a Toyota Tacoma.
First responders stated the victim suffered a serious head injury. He was transported to a local hospital for treatment and evaluation. His current medical condition is unclear at this time.
The truck driver remained at the scene and cooperated with law enforcement. It is not believed that drugs or alcohol were contributing factors. However, police believe the pedestrian could have been intoxicated at the time of the accident.
The identity of the victim has not yet been released to the public.
The boulevard was closed off for a brief time for cleanup and preliminary investigation, but has since reopened. No further details have been released regarding the circumstances leading up to the incident at this time.
