Isa Marie Alonzo Arrested after DUI 2-Vehicle Crash on 24th Avenue in Edinburg

Edinburg, TX (October 12, 2023) – On Sunday evening, a man sustained injuries in a DUI 2-vehicle crash on 24th Avenue.

Subsequently, police arrested Isa Marie Alonzo on a charge of intoxication assault causing serious bodily injury.

An affidavit states that an Edinburg Police Department officer was called to an accident at the intersection of 24th Avenue and Sprague Street at 6:39 p.m. on Oct. 8.

Upon arrival, the officer saw a blue passenger car and a white van involved in the collision. Lopez asked the drivers if they needed medical attention, to which the driver of the blue vehicle responded in the affirmative because he could not breathe and had a stiff neck, according to the affidavit.

The driver of the van, identified as Alonzo, was still in the driver’s seat and said she did not need medical attention.

The officer noted that Alonzo exhibited symptoms of intoxication, including slurred speech, watery slurred speech, and an odor of alcohol on her breath.

Alonzo refused to cooperate, according to the affidavit, and police obtained a search warrant for blood.

The driver who was injured in the crash said he saw the vehicle jump the cement curb on the bypass and hit his vehicle on the right side.

Alonzo was arrested, and her bond was set at $45,000. She remains jailed.
