Man in His 30s Wounded in Traffic Shooting on 10 Freeway in Pomona
POMONA, CA (June 28, 2019) – A man in his 30s sustained injuries following a car-to-car shooting Friday evening on 10 Freeway near Fairplex Drive.
CHP investigators said the man heading eastbound on the 10 Freeway at 6:45 p.m.. After that, two men inside a dark-colored vehicle, possibly a Nissan, fired three shots. The bullets hit the victim.
Two other passengers in his car did not get hurt in the gunfire. Cameras captured a young girl and what appeared to be her mother next to the car.
The victim exited the freeway and pulled over in a McDonald’s parking lot. Rescuers found him with a gunshot wound to his lower body. Paramedics took him to Pomona Valley Hospital for treatment, but an update on his condition was not immediately available.
The shooters fled the scene heading eastbound on the freeway, the CHP reported. As for a motive, authorities have no leads, as well as no suspect information. They said the gunman is still on the run.
The eastbound lanes of 10 Freeway were closed for about three hours as CHP officers searched the area for evidence. Footage from AIR7 HD showed traffic at a standstill. Motorists on the 10 Freeway were diverted onto the 57 Freeway.
All lanes were back open around 10:30 p.m.
