Bicyclist Hospitalized after Struck by Car at Sixth Street
VICTORVILLE, CA (September 22, 2018) – Late Friday morning, a man was seriously injured in a bicycle collision on D Street. The victim was only identified as a male in his late 30s.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the accident took place around 11:30 AM at the intersection with Sixth Street. Events leading up to the incident are unclear at this time, but the bike rider was struck by a black 2013 Hyundai in the westbound lanes of D St.
Due to the impact of the collision, he was ejected onto the road and the bike split into several parts. The victim sustained critical injuries including head trauma and mulitple lacerations, and firefighters with San Bernardino County Fire requested a helicopter to transport the patient to the Arrowhead Regional Medical Center. There is no update on his current medical condition at this time.
The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and cooperated with officials from the Victorville Police Department. Authorities continue to investigate, in order to determine the cause of the crash. No further details have been disclosed to the public.
