Elderly Pedestrian Fatally Struck by Vehicle in East Los Angeles
EAST LOS ANGELES, CA (August 25, 2019) – An elderly man in a wheelchair was hit and killed by a vehicle late Sunday afternoon in East Los Angeles.
The crash happened around 5:14 p.m. at the intersection of 3rd Street and Mednick Avenue.
According to the California Highway Patrol, an 87-year-old pedestrian was crossing the street on his electric scooter when he was hit by a 2002 Honda Odyssey minivan, driven by a 40-year-old Los Angeles man.
Paramedics rushed the victim to a trauma center, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
The precise circumstances that led to the fatal crash remain unclear at this time. CHP officials are still investigating the incident.
