One Person Injured in Stockton Big Rig Crash
SACRAMENTO, CA (March 6, 2019) – One person was injured in semi-truck accident on Highway 50 Wednesday morning.
California Highway Patrol reported the accident occurred at 6:25 AM on Highway 50 near Stockton Boulevard. Although it is unclear how the accident happened, a guardrail and a roadway sign were damaged. In addition, an axle from the big rig fell several feet away from the crash site.
First responders were dispatched to the scene. Upon their arrival, a man was found lying on the ground. He was immediately transported to a nearby hospital for further medical evaluation. However, an update on his medical condition has not been released.
Due to the collision, multiple lanes were closed for several hours. About sixty gallons of diesel fuel were spilled throughout the highway. As a result, hazmat crews were dispatched to clear the debris and fuel from the roadway.
The cause of the accident is still unknown as the the investigation is ongoing.
