Woman Dies in Wrong-Way Head-On Crash on Panama Lane
Bakersfield, CA (July 12, 2024) On Thursday evening, a 40-year-old Arvin man was hurt, while a female driver was killed in a 2-vehicle collision on Panama Lane.
According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), the deadly wrong-way crash happened at about 5:49 p.m. on Panama Lane, east of Vineland Road.
Reports say that the female driver was driving an eastbound Hyundai on Panama Lane, when she veered onto the opposite lane and collided head-on with a westbound GMC, driven by the Arvin man.
Medics rushed the Arvin man to Kern with major injuries, while authorities pronounced the female driver dead at the scene.
CHP closed Panama Lane was closed in both directions east of Vineland Road for approximately three hours.
Officials are investigating the fatal crash and have not released further details at this time.
