Fatal Pedestrian Collision Involving Train near D Street Bridge
VICTORVILLE, CA (May 23, 2018) – A man was killed Wednesday morning after he was struck by a train near 11th Street and D Street.
The San Bernardino County Fire responded to the scene after a concerned caller reported about a man who was hit by a train approximately 100 feet from the D Street Bridge. Firefighters found a male pedestrian and large rocks near the train. The unidentified man was pronounced dead at the scene.
The victim’s identity is being withheld pending notification of his family.
Train services were halted for investigation and clearing operations. The tracks were opened to the public at about 12:35 PM.
Authorities are investigating the cause of the pedestrian’s presence on the railroad tracks. It was also noted that a designated crosswalk was not utilized when the man was crossing. No additional information about this incident has been released to the public.
