Pedestrian Struck and Killed by Truck at Harbor Boulevard West Capitol Avenue
SACRAMENTO, CA (October 4, 2018) – A man was killed early Thursday morning following a pedestrian crash along Highway 50. The identity of the victim is being withheld, pending notification of next of kin.
According to the California Highway Patrol, a semi-truck struck a pedestrian at about 5:20 AM at Harbor Boulevard and West Capitol Avenue, at the on-ramp on the eastbound Highway 50. Events leading up to the collision were not immediately available.
The victim, identified as a man in his 60s, was dragged for several blocks, resulting in fatal injuries. Despite life-saving efforts, the man succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency responders. Meanwhile, the driver of the semi-truck remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators.
An investigation is ongoing to determine the cause of the crash and to identify possible contributing factors. No further details have been provided to the public at this time.
