Driver Fatally Injured in Solo-Vehicle Crash near 166th Street

GARDENA, CA (October 17, 2018) – A man was killed early Wednesday morning following a rollover crash on Normandie Avenue. The identity of the victim is being withheld, pending notification of next of kin.

According to the Gardena Police Department, the incident took place at about 2:00 AM near 166th Street. A 2009 BMW SUV jumped a curb, crossed the sidewalk, and slammed into a wrought-iron gate in the parking lot of Diana’s Mexican Food Products.

The impact of the crash caused the SUV to roll over and come to a rest upside down against the gate. The unidentified driver suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency responders. No other injuries were reported by the authorities.

An investigation is ongoing to determine the cause of the fatal crash and to identify possible contributing factors. Additional information will be released once it becomes available.
