Pedestrian Struck and Killed by Vehicle near Highway 52
UNIVERSITY CITY, CA (January 24, 2019) – A man was killed Thursday evening following a pedestrian crash on Interstate 805. The identity of the victim is being withheld, pending notification of next of kin.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident happened near Highway 52, at about 6:00 PM. The man was on the transition ramp when he was struck by a vehicle.
The victim, described as a man in his 30s, suffered critical injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. Meanwhile, the driver of the vehicle remained to render aid and cooperated with investigators.
An investigation is ongoing to determine the cause of the fatal accident and to identify possible contributing factors. Anyone who may have witnessed the incident is asked to contact the authorities as soon as possible. Additional information will be released once it becomes available.
