Pedestrian Fatally Hit by Car on Paseo Padre Parkway in Fremont
FREMONT, CA (August 20, 2019) – A man died in a pedestrian accident on Paseo Padre Parkway in Fremont Sunday night.
As per the Fremont police, the incident occurred just before midnight. A Toyota Camry was northbound on Pase Padre when it struck the pedestrian.
The officers said the victim was about 50 years old. He was lying unconscious on northbound Paseo Padre when they arrived at the scene. The area is midway between Walnut Avenue and Capitol Avenue, in front of a shopping center.
The man died before he could be transported to the hospital. The police did not release the name of the victim pending notification of his family.
The 18-year-old Fremont woman driving the Camry stopped after the collision. She cooperated with the police and was not arrested.
The collision prompted the closure of northbound Paseo Padre from Walnut Avenue to Capitol Avenue. It reopened at about 5:30 a.m. on Monday.
The authorities ruled out alcohol or drugs as a factor in the crash. It was also unclear whether the pedestrian was in a crosswalk during the collision. The investigation is ongoing.
