SAN MARTIN, CA (August 10, 2023) – Wednesday, a Riverside man died in a horrific pedestrian crash on Highway 101 and San Martin Avenue.

The incident occurred on southbound Highway 101, south of San Martin Avenue at around 12:31 p.m.

According to reports, the 36-year-old Riverside man stood next to his vehicle which he had pulled over on the right shoulder. As he re-secured his cargo, the driver of a 2017 International two-axle box truck made an “unsafe turning movement,” traveled onto the shoulder, and struck him.

As a result, responders took the man to San Jose Regional Medical Center, where he succumbed to his injuries.

Meanwhile, the Santa Clara County Medical Examiner-Coroner’s Office hasn’t disclosed his identity due to pending family notification.

Moreover, the 53-year-old truck driver from Oakland suffered no injuries in the crash.

Also, the authorities do not suspect that alcohol or drugs played a role in the crash.

Furthermore, they urged witnesses to call the CHP Hollister-Gilroy area office at 408-427-0700.

Due to the limited information available, the authorities continued to investigate the crash.
