Man Dies in Hit-and-Run Crash on Highway 101 [San Jose, CA]

San Jose, CA (December 17, 2022) – On Friday morning, a male pedestrian sustained fatal injuries following a hit-and-run crash on Highway 101.

The fatal accident took plat at about 5:15 on the southbound freeway north of McKee Road.

According to CHP, the man ran from the right-hand shoulder across lanes of the freeway into the path of a Chevrolet Silverado.

The 46-year-old Union City man driving the Chevy tried to avoid the collision but the right side of the vehicle side-swiped the pedestrian. 

Afterward, a second vehicle also struck the man who died at the scene. Officers say the Chevy driver stopped at the scene while the second vehicle fled.

Traffic crews closed the two right lanes of southbound Highway 101 and the McKee Road off-ramp for several hours. They reopened the lanes and the ramp at about 1:40 p.m.
