1 Killed in San Francisco Train Accident
SAN FRANCISCO, CA (January 16, 2020) – A man died in a train accident on Bayshore Boulevard and Sunnydale Avenue on January 12.
According to reports, a Muni Train waited for the light at its final stop before going to the Muni yard for the night. However, the person on the platform approached at about 1:15 a.m. and tried to open its doors.
The person then climbed over the train’s safety straps and took a seat on the coupler joining two train cars. When the operator headed toward the Muni yard, the man fell and got hit by a train car.
The operator didn’t know that the man got hit by the train car. Meanwhile, another operator reported the man’s body on the tracks. By 7:00 a.m., the crews finally cleared the scene. The San Francisco police and Muni Systems Safety is currently investigating the collision.
