Man Dead in Single-Vehicle Crash on State Route 242 at Highway 4 [Contra Costa County, CA]

CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, CA (December 1, 2020) – On Sunday evening, a man died in a single-vehicle crash on State Route 242 at Highway 4.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident happened at around 11:30 p.m. A 22-year-old driver lost control and rolled over the center divider. Then, the vehicle went down the center dirt embankment before coming to rest on southbound State Route 242.
 
The force of the crash ejected a male passenger from Pittsburg on the car. Then, he got hit by another vehicle. Responders pronounced the passenger dead at the scene.
 
The vehicle driver sustained minor injuries.
 
Officers do not believe that drugs or alcohol played a role in the crash.
