Fatal Crash Reported in Novato on Highway 101
NOVATO, CA (April 22, 2019) – A man suffered fatal injuries after a medical emergency accident in Novato on Saturday, April 20.
California Highway Patrol said that the driver reportedly suffered some type of medical episode while driving on southbound Highway 101.
At around 9:50 a.m., the man traveled south near the Ignacio Boulevard interchange. Then his red Dodge Challenger drifted into the right-side guardrail. After that, the vehicle went across all southbound traffic lanes into the median.
Two Good Samaritan drivers stopped to give the man CPR. Paramedics arrived soon after and transported the man to the Kaiser Permanente San Rafael Medical Center where they pronounced him dead, CHP Officer Andrew Barclay said.
The Challenger had some little damage, according to Barclay. No other vehicles were involved in the incident. The man’s identity was not immediately available. There was no one else in the vehicle, Barclay said.
The accident is still under investigation.
