Man Fatally Struck in Inglewood Hit-and-Run Crash on 405 Freeway
INGLEWOOD, CA (September 16, 2019) – A 28-year-old Compton man died after a hit-and-run accident on 405 Freeway on Friday, September 13.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the collisions happened at around 11:30 p.m. in the southbound lanes of the freeway, just north of Century Boulevard.
For reasons still unknown, the pedestrian walked onto the freeway traffic lanes, the CHP said. Then an unknown dark-colored vehicle traveling southbound in the No. 5 lane struck the victim. After that, a Toyota Camry in the No. 5 lane hit the pedestrian.
Paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene. His identity was not yet available pending notification of family.
The vehicle involved in the initial collision fled the area. Authorities do not yet have any information about the driver or the vehicle.
The driver of the Camry stayed at the scene and cooperated with investigators, officials stated. Reports described him as a 64-year-old Compton man.
