BAKERSFIELD, CA (January 12, 2022) – Tuesday morning, a man died in a pedestrian crash on Highway 99 near Merle Haggard Drive.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident happened at around 2:00 a.m. Moreover, it occurred on northbound Highway 99, north of Merle Haggard Drive.
 
Reports revealed that a northbound 2000 Plymouth Voyager collided with two more vehicles for still unknown reasons. Then, the male driver of the Voyager fled the scene on foot. However, as he crossed the center barrier wall onto southbound Highway 99, a tractor/semi-trailer combination hit him.
 
Moreover, responders pronounced the man dead at the scene.
 
Furthermore, officials believed that drugs or alcohol played a role in the incident.
 
Meanwhile, officers asked anyone with information about the crash to call the CHP Bakersfield Area, at 661-396-6600.
