1 Killed in Solana Beach E-Bike Accident on Highway 101
SOLANA BEACH, CA (February 27, 2022) – Saturday afternoon, a man died in an electric bicycle crash on Highway 101.
According to San Diego sheriff’s Deputy Brett Fuller, the incident happened at around 12:30 p.m. on northbound Highway 101.
Reports revealed that an electric bicycle traveling in the designated bicycle lane attempted to overtake a slower bicycle. Then, the electric bike lost control and ejected the 65-year-old male driver into the roadway. Afterward, a Dodge truck hit the rider.
Moreover, responders rushed the patient to Scripps Hospital in La Jolla. However, he later died at the hospital.
Furthermore, the Dodge driver remained at the scene to cooperate with the authorities.
