1 Killed and 1 Hospitalized in Patterson Auto Accident on Interstate 5 near Sperry Avenue
PATTERSON, CA (June 9, 2021) – Tuesday afternoon, a man died and a person sustained injuries in a big rig crash on Interstate 5 near Sperry Avenue.
According to spokesperson Tom Olsen, the incident happened at around 12:30 p.m. Moreover, it occurred on Interstate 5, just north of the Sperry Avenue on-ramp.
Reports revealed that a 2016 big rig carrying a flatbed trailer with frames and wheels traveled in the slow lane. Then, for unknown reasons, it veered across Sperry Avenue on-ramp. Eventually, it overturned and came into rest, east of the Interstate 5.
Furthermore, the force of the crash ejected the big rig driver into the road. Responders pronounced the male driver dead at the scene. Meanwhile, paramedics transported a passenger of the big rig to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Moreover, the California Department of Transportation closed the Sperry Avenue on-ramp but has long since reopened.
Also, authorities are unsure if alcohol or drugs played a role in the incident.
