Unidentified Man Hospitalized in Mission Beach Scooter Accident
MISSION BEACH, CA (March 30, 2019) – An unidentified 39-year-old man was critically injured in a scooter accident Saturday night on Oceanfront Walk.
San Diego Police stated the accident occurred around 10:00 PM on Mission Beach Boardwalk near Belmont Park. The man was riding his scooter southbound on the 3300 block of Oceanfront Walk when he veered right and fell.
Officer Robert Heims said the victim’s head hit the ground on the boardwalk. As a result, he suffered severe head trauma. Medics were called and he was immediately transported to the hospital for further medical evaluation. There has been no update on his medical condition.
Police were unable to confirm if the man was wearing a helmet at the time. There has been no further information released about the incident.
The mayor’s office proposed a program that includes more regulations for motorized scooter including speed limits.
