Pedestrian Struck by Two Vehicles in Possible Hit-and-Run Collision near South Bonnyview Road
REDDING, CA (October 2, 2018) – On Tuesday night, a man was critically injured in a pedestrian crash on Highway 273. The victim’s name and place of residence were not immediately released to the public.
According to officials with the California Highway Patrol, the collision took place at approximately 9:10 PM near South Bonnyview Road.
Witnesses said that a man who was wearing dark clothing at the time, was hit while crossing the highway outside of a designated crosswalk. There were two cars involved in the incident. The second driver did not stop at the crash scene.
The officers located the man in the roadway. He sustained major injuries and was transported to Mercy Medical Center, where he is currently listed in critical condition.
Officers identified the driver of the first vehicle that struck the pedestrian as 55-year-old Cassandra Zucco, a resident of Redding. She was evaluated at the scene, was found not to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol, and was released. The authorities focused on determining if it was a hit and run case and if the second driver was aware about hitting the pedestrian.
