Pedestrian Struck and Injured by Vehicle near 7th Street
RIVERSIDE, CA (October 17, 2018) – A man suffered serious injuries after a pedestrian accident on Chicago Avenue, Wednesday evening. The victim’s name and place of residence were not immediately released to the public.
According to officials with the California Highway Patrol, the collision took place at approximately 8:50 PM, near 7th Street. The victim was described as a 60 to 70-year-old man with grey hair.
As per reports, he was using a walking cane when an unidentified vehicle struck him. It was not yet clear if the incident occurred in a designated crosswalk. The paramedics arrived for rescue and transported the injured man to a local hospital for treatment and evaluation. He currently remains in critical condition.
Riverside Police stated that the driver of the vehicle and a witness remained at the scene to cooperate with investigators. An investigation is ongoing to determine the cause of the crash and to identify possible contributing factors. Additional information will be released once it becomes available.
